Glounthaune Community Association

I have a long involvement in community affairs having been Chairperson of Glounthaune Community Association 1990-1992 and a current board member since 2015. I am a founder member of Glounthaune Men’s Shed 2015.I also have been closely associated with Glounthaune Tidy Towns having been Secretary, Vice Chairman and Chairman from 2005 to 2019. During this time I led the successful Japanese Knotweed eradication project 2015-2019 and the installation of an outdoor gym 2015. I facilitated the 2019 Cork Co Co Village Enhancement Scheme for Glounthaune with eight significant public realm enhancements completed in 2020. I also assisted directly in the development of Harper’s Island Wetlands Reserve in the period 2015 to date. I also was successful in obtaining a 2019 grant to develop a Community Biodiversity Plan for Glounthaune, currently being finalised.
