Connect with Ireland’s wild side at the launch of National Biodiversity Week in Little Island, Cork

Join the Irish Environmental Network and Cork County Public Participation Network as we celebrate the launch of National Biodiversity Week on Sunday 10th May with a special event all about long term actions for nature.

We are excited to be joined by our guest speakers for the day and look forward to welcoming you to Harpers Island in Cork!

Learn how to create a plan of action for helping biodiversity in your local area with ecologist Karen Loxton and hear how a Biodiversity Action Plan works in practice with examples from Green Skibbereen.

Discover Nature Based Solutions with Michelle McKeown from UCC, what they are and how they could help locally and nationally. Find out about the different Citizen Science initiatives available from the National Biodiversity Data Centre with Rachel Hayden and how you can use them in your own work.

Complete the day with a guided walk through Harpers Island Wetlands with Birdwatch Ireland and take part in a bioblitz along the way.

It promises to be a fun, practical and meaningful event that will provide people with an opportunity to connect with nature and learn how to take action to allow wildlife to thrive alongside of us. Everyone is welcome!

“With hundreds of events planned for Biodiversity Week, people all around the country can learn more about the natural world surrounding them and how to take actions that support wildlife and biodiversity. We’re delighted to kick the week off in Cork with lots to see and do in Little Island on Sunday.”
