Minister for Health publishes the report of the CHI Inquiry Scoping Exercise
Minister for Health, Jennifer Carroll MacNeill TD has published the report of the Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) Inquiry Scoping Exercise by Remy Farrell Senior Counsel (SC). The Minister commissioned Mr Farrell to conduct a scoping exercise into spina bifida and scoliosis services following consultation with advocacy groups, parents and families.
Minister Carroll MacNeill said:
“I welcome the publication of the report of the CHI Inquiry Scoping Exercise.
“I am grateful to the parents, families and advocacy groups for their collaboration with Mr Farrell throughout the process. The difficult experiences of families are evident throughout the report, and their insights have informed its recommendations.
“I am also grateful to Mr Remy Farrell for his work throughout the exercise and for the consideration he has given to the issues at hand.
The Government has accepted the report’s recommendations in full. Officials in the Department of Health will work in close consultation with the Office of the Attorney General on drafting the Terms of Reference (ToR) for the proposed Commission of Investigation. The final ToR will be submitted to Government for approval.
