Cork County Council Opens Consultation Process for New Arts Plan

Cork County Council’s Arts Office is inviting members of the public to share their views about how the Council can promote the enjoyment of and participation in the arts in County Cork.

The new Arts Plan 2025-2029 will set out the direction, priorities and goals that will guide Cork County Council’s investment and services in the arts over the next five years.

The plan will have an impact on how the arts service supports artists, makers, and those who deliver arts programmes in professional and voluntary organisations. It will also set out how the Arts Service engages with arts audiences, hardly reached communities, youth audiences and educational settings.

Welcoming the consultation process, the Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Joe Carroll said

Cultural life in County Cork is supported by an arts ecosystem that includes practicing artists, arts organisations, venues, festivals, voluntary arts practitioners, and many others working to promote the practice and enjoyment of the arts in their communities. Their dedication and commitment contribute significantly to the quality of life enjoyed by our citizens and also the positive experience visitors have in our county.

The Arts Office is seeking input from the arts sector, community and arts organisations, and the wider public who have an interest in the arts. The service is particularly interested to hear what value the arts have in people’s lives; how people currently engage with the arts; and how improved access to a creative activity might support wellbeing and quality of life.

They are opportunities to take part in this consultation both in person at public consultation meetings at locations around Cork County during July and online by attending a consultation meeting or by completing a survey. The closing date for submissions is Friday, the 16th of August.

The schedule for public consultations is as follows:

Cuireann Comhairle Contae Chorcaí Tús le Próiseas Comhairliúcháin do Phlean Nua Ealaíon

Tá Oifig Ealaíon Chomhairle Contae Chorcaí ag tabhairt cuireadh don phobal a dtuairimí a roinnt maidir le bealaí ina bhféadfadh an Chomhairle taitneamh agua rannpháirtíocht na n-ealaíon a chur chun cinn i gContae Chorcaí.

Leagfar amach i bPlean nua Ealaíon 2025-2029 an treo, na tosaíochtaí agus na spriocanna a threoróidh infheistíocht agus seirbhísí ealaíon Chomhairle Contae Chorcaí sna cúig bliana amach romhainn.

Beidh tionchar ag an bplean ar an gcaoi a dtacaíonn an tseirbhís ealaíon le healaíontóirí, le déantóirí agus leo siúd a sheachadann cláir ealaíon in eagraíochtaí gairmiúla agus deonacha. Leagfar amach an freisin an chaoi a rachaidh an tSeirbhís Ealaíon i dteagmháil le lucht féachana na n-ealaíon, le pobail nach raibh mórán teagmháil leo go dtí seo, leis an óige agus le hinstitiúidí oideachais.

Chuir Méara Chontae Chorcaí, an Clr Joe Carroll, fáilte roimh an bpróiseas comhairliúcháin agus dúirt:

Faigheann an saol cultúrtha i gContae Chorcaí tacaíocht ó éiceachóras ealaíon a chuimsíonn ealaíontóirí atá ag cleachtadh a ngairme, eagraíochtaí ealaíon, ionaid, féilte, cleachtóirí ealaíon deonacha, agus grúpaí éagsúla a oibríonn chun cleachtas agus taitneamh na n-ealaíon a chur chun cinn i bpobail áitiúla. Cuireann a dtiomantas agus a ndíograis go mór le caighdeán na beatha atá ag ár saoránaigh agus ag na cuairteoirí a gcuirimid fáilte rompu sa chontae seo.

Tá ionchur á lorg ag an Oifig Ealaíon ó earnáil na n-ealaíon, ó eagraíochtaí pobail agus ealaíon agus ó bhaill den phobal a bhfuil suim acu sna healaíona. Tá suim faoi leith ag an tseirbhís eolas a fháil faoi luach na n-ealaíon i saol daoine; faoin teagmháil a bhíonn ag daoine leis na healaíona faoi láthair; agus faoi na bealaí ina bhféadfadh rochtain feabhsaithe ar ghníomhaíochtaí cruthaitheacha tacú le folláine agus le caighdeán maireachtála.

Beidh deiseanna ar fáil páirt a ghlacadh sa chomhairliúchán seo ag cruinnithe comhairliúcháin phoiblí ar fud Chontae Chorcaí le linn mhí Iúil agus ar líne trí fhreastal ar chruinniú comhairliúcháin nó trí shuirbhé a líonadh ar www.corkcoco.ie Dé hAoine, an 16 Lúnasa an dáta deiridh d’aighneachtaí.
