Comhghairdeas déanta ag an Aire Dara Calleary le buaiteoirí Chomórtas na mBailte is Feistiúla in Éirinn sa 30ú eagrán den chomórtas

  • Buaiteoirí ón oileán ar fad fógartha ag searmanas bronnta i dTeach Farmleigh, Páirc an Fhionnuisce, Baile Átha Cliath

Is comórtas uile-oileáin é Comórtas na mBailte is Feistiúla in Éirinn ina dtéann cuid de na bailte is fearr ó chomórtas Bhailte Slachtmhara SuperValu in iomaíocht lena macasamhlacha ó chomórtas Best Kept i dTuaisceart Éireann. I mbliana, tá ceiliúradh á dhéanamh ag Comórtas na mBailte is Feistiúla in Éirinn ar 30 bliana den chomórtas ghalánta seo. Fógraíodh torthaí chomórtas 2025 inniu (17ú Meitheamh 2025) ag searmanas bronnta i dTeach Farmleigh.

Is é an Nás, Contae Chill Dara buaiteoir iomlán Chomórtas na mBailte is Feistiúla in Éirinn, 2025.

Ba é an Nás a bhuaigh i gcatagóir na Lárionad Uirbeach Mór is Feistiúla freisin;

Bun Cranncha, Contae Dhún na nGall a bhuaigh i gcatagóir na mBailte Móra is Feistiúla;

Domhnach Mór, Contae Thír Eoghain a bhuaigh i gcatagóir na Sráidbhailte is Feistiúla; agus

Cromghlinn, Contae an Dúin a bhuaigh i gcatagóir na mBailte Beaga is Feistiúla.

Rinne an tAire Forbartha Tuaithe agus Pobail agus Gaeltachta, Dara Calleary, a chomhghairdeas le buaiteoirí chomórtas 2025.

Dúirt an tAire Calleary:

Ba mhaith liom ardmholadh a thabhairt do na buaiteoirí go léir i gcomórtas na mBailte is Feistiúla in Éirinn inniu, agus don Nás, Co. Chill Dara as a mbua iomlán in éineacht lena dteideal mar an Lárionad Uirbeach Mór is Feistiúla, agus do Bhun Cranncha, Co. Dhún na nGall, ag a raibh an bua i gcatagóir na mBailte Móra is Feistiúla.

“Chomh maith leis sin, ba mhaith liom comhghairdeas a dhéanamh le Domhnach Mór, Co. Thír Eoghain, an buaiteoir i gcatagóir na Sráidbhailte is Feistiúla in Éirinn, agus le Cromghlinn, Co. an Dúin, an buaiteoir i gcatagóir na mBailte Beaga is Feistiúla in Éirinn.”

Lean an tAire ar aghaidh:

“Le 30 bliana anuas tá aitheantas á thabhairt ag Comórtas na mBailte is Feistiúla in Éirinn don bhród mór atá ag muintir na hÉireann agus muintir Thuaisceart Éireann as a bpobail féin. Tá tairbhí fadtéarmacha i ndán do chách leis an infheistíocht inár bpobail tríd an gcomórtas iontach seo, mar atá léirithe ag na buaiteoirí anseo inniu. Is mór an teist í don fhreagracht a ghlacann na hoibrithe deonacha as a gceantair áitiúla agus an obair a dhéanann siad lena bhfeabhsú, don am i láthair agus don todhchaí.

“Is éacht ann féin í ainmniúchán a fháil do na gradaim seo. Is aitheantas é ar na hiarrachtaí atá á ndéanamh ag oibrithe deonacha agus pobail áitiúla i gcomórtas Bhailte Slachtmhara SuperValu agus comórtas Best Kept i dTuaisceart Éireann.”

Dúirt Doreen Muskett, MBE, Cathaoirleach an Northern Ireland Amenity Council, an comhlacht a eagraíonn gradaim Best Kept:

Is léir fós sna comórtais seo bród mór na ndaoine as a pobail, ó thuaidh agus ó dheas, agus an obair chrua atá ar siúl ag oibrithe deonacha. Maibh sibh, is saibhre bhur bpobail de bharr bhur n-iarrachtaí agus bhur n-obair chrua.

“Déanaim comhghairdeas ó chroí leo siúd go léir a fuair gradaim i mbliana, an 30ú bliain den chomórtas. Ní haon ionadh domsa é gur aithníodh Domhnach Mór agus Cromghlinn mar dhá cheann de na háiteanna is áille in Éirinn.”

Minister Dara Calleary congratulates the winners of Ireland’s Best Kept Town on the competition’s 30th anniversary

  • Naas, County Kildare is Ireland’s Best Kept Town 2025
  • All island winners announced at an awards ceremony in Farmleigh House, Phoenix Park, Dublin

Ireland’s Best Kept Town is an all-island competition in which some of the best towns in the SuperValu TidyTowns competition compete against their counterparts in Northern Ireland’s Best Kept competition. This year – Ireland’s Best Kept Towns also celebrates the 30th anniversary of this wonderful competition. The results of the 2025 competition were announced today (17th June 2025) at an awards ceremony in Farmleigh House.

Naas, County Kildare is the overall winner of Ireland’s Best Kept Town competition, 2025.

Naas also wonthe Best Kept Large Urban Centre category;

Buncrana, County Donegal won the Best Kept Large Town category;

Donaghmore, County Tyrone won the Best Kept Village category; and

Royal Hillsborough, County Down won the Best Kept Small Town category.

The Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary, congratulated the winners of 2025 Competition.

Minister Calleary said:

I want to pay tribute to all the winners today in the Ireland’s Best Kept Town competition, and Naas, Co Kildare for winning the overall title along with the title of Best Kept Large Urban Centre and Buncrana, Co Donegal, the winners of the Best Kept Large Town category.

“I also want to congratulate Donaghmore, Co Tyrone the winner of Ireland’s Best Kept Village category and Royal Hillsborough, Co Down the winner of Ireland’s Best Kept Small Town category.”   

The Minister continued:

“Now in its 30th year, Ireland’s Best Kept Town Competition recognises the great pride people have in their own communities, both in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Investment in our communities through this wonderful competition reaps long-term rewards for all, as showcased by the winning groups here today. It is testament to how local volunteers take ownership of their local area and work to improve them, for now and into the future.

“Being nominated for these awards is an achievement in itself. It is a recognition of the efforts made by volunteers and local communities in the SuperValu TidyTowns competition and the Best Kept competition in Northern Ireland.” 

Doreen Muskett, MBE, Chairperson of the Northern Ireland Amenity Council, the body that organises the Best Kept Awards, said:

These competitions continue to demonstrate the great pride that people have in their communities, North and South, and the hard work that is carried out by volunteers.  Well done, your communities are richer for your efforts and hard work.

“My sincere congratulations to all of this year’s awards recipients in this the 30th year of the competition, it comes as no surprise to me that Donaghmore and Royal Hillsborough have been recognised amongst Ireland’s most beautiful spots.”
