
Cork to Host Europe’s Top Wheelchair Basketball Clubs
Cork, Ireland — April 2026:
Rebel Wheelers Multi-Sports Club is proud to announce that Cork has been chosen as the host city for the IWBF EuroCup Group 4 Qualifiers, running from April 23–26, 2026. The event will feature five elite European wheelchair basketball clubs competing for advancement in one of the sport’s most prestigious tournaments.
This milestone highlights both the growth of wheelchair basketball in Ireland and Rebel Wheelers’ long-standing commitment to empowering athletes with physical disabilities.
About Rebel Wheelers
Rebel Wheelers is a Cork-based IWA (Irish Wheelchair Association) Sport multi-sport club dedicated to empowering people with physical disabilities through sport. Founded in 2008 by five families, the club has grown from a handful of members to over 70 athletes, ranging from children to adults. The club’s mission is to empower young people with physical disabilities by introducing them to sports in a fun, safe, inclusive environment, promoting independence, healthy living, well-being, and self-esteem.
Rebel Wheelers runs programmes across five core sports:
· Wheelchair Basketball
· Wheelchair Rugby
· Para Athletics
· Boccia
· Saturday Morning Multisport Club
The club has an outstanding record of developing national-level athletes, with multiple members representing Ireland across senior, U23, and U19 wheelchair basketball and European wheelchair rugby championships. They are also the only club in Ireland with two adult wheelchair basketball teams, with the Senior Team holding league and cup titles for the past three years.

Matches will be played at: Upper Glanmire Community Sports Hall, Cork. The official team hotel is the Cork International Airport Hotel, located near Cork Airport.
