Mair Kelly is a 22 year old woman from the Mizen Head in West Cork. She’s currently in her final year of International Development and Food Policy and working with the YMCA on the Future Generations Climate Justice project with young people from across Cork. She began her youth work journey through becoming involved with YMCA in TY, soon after joining Comhairle na nÓg. During her time in comhairle she represented them at the European Youth Event in Strasbourg, the Dáil, the Annual Showcase and Dáil na nÓg as well as at the PPN West Cork Showcase. She assisted with the organisation of the AGM while on the committee and after.. Since then she has continued to support Comhairle and raise awareness about the opportunities it holds. She’s passionate about youth work, empowerment and is a strong advocate for youth participation in decision making and since leaving Comhairle she has worked extensively in the areas of inclusion and accessibility at a local, national and international level with the National Youth Council of Ireland, Cork Migrant Centre, CYPSC Anti-Racism Sub-Group, UCC University of Sanctuary, is a long term volunteer with Special Olympics and a member of the YMCA International Development and Global Justice Committee. She’s familiar with not just Comhairle, but many of the youth oriented initiatives in Ireland, bringing both knowledge and enthusiasm into discussions.
