Fógraíonn an tAire Calleary breis is €17 milliún do 212 tionscadal pobail

• Infheistíocht leanúnach, tríd an gCiste Aitheantais Pobail, inár gclubanna spóirt, ionaid phobail, páirceanna, cosáin áineasa agus spásanna súgartha agus céadfacha.

• Faigheann tionscadail a thacaíonn le healaíona, cultúr agus feithiclí pobail maoiniú freisin.

• Comhlíonann an Rialtas a ghealltanas tacú le pobail áitiúla chun a bheith níos cuimsithí agus níos acmhainní.

Inniu (Déardaoin, an 5 Meitheamh), le linn cuairte ar Chontae Ros Comáin chun roinnt tionscadal forbartha tuaithe atá maoinithe ag a Roinn a sheoladh, d’fhógair an tAire Forbartha Tuaithe agus Pobail agus na Gaeltachta, Dara Calleary TD, breis is €17 milliún chun 212 tionscadal pobail a sheachadadh ar fud na tíre tríd an gCiste Aitheantais Pobail.

Seo an tríú fógra faoi thionscadail faoi chiste 2024, agus tabharfaidh sé buntáistí follasacha do phobail ar fud na tíre a chuir fáilte roimh dhaoine nua le blianta beaga anuas ina gcathracha, ina mbailte agus ina sráidbhailte.

San áireamh sa liosta de 212 tionscadal a fógraíodh inniu tá oibreacha feabhsúcháin ar ionaid phobail, raon leathan áiseanna áineasa, agus ceannach foirgneamh agus tailte le húsáid chomhroinnte ag pobail amach anseo.

Tá soláthar feithiclí pobail agus tionscadail a thacaíonn leis an earnáil ealaíon agus cultúir san áireamh san fhógra inniu freisin.

Rinne an tAire Calleary an fógra le linn cuairte ar chontae Ros Comáin, áit ar nocht sé naoi dtionscadal forbartha tuaithe.

I measc na dtionscadal atá á maoiniú inniu tá:

• Contae Cheatharlach – Baile Cheatharlach: Soláthar cosáin siúil inrochtana agus uasghrádú trealaimh chlós súgartha ag Scoil Speisialta Naomh Lasairian – €160,000

• Contae an Chláir – Bun Raite: Ceannach báid agus deisiúcháin báid do Chuardach agus Tarrtháil Bhun Raite – €86,000

• Contae Dhún na nGall – Carraig: Ceannach láithreáin i lár an tsráidbhaile do Ghrúpa Athghiniúna na Carraige chun spás sibhialta a chruthú – €130,000

• Cathair Bhaile Átha Cliath – Crois Araild: Soilsiú páirce atá ann cheana a athsholáthar ag Club Sacair Óige Chrois Araild – €100,800

• Contae na Gaillimhe – Bearna: Spás áiléir a fhorbairt chun seomraí cruinnithe pobail a chruthú d’Ionad Óige Bhearna/na bhForbacha – €120,000

• Cathair Luimnigh – Bóthar Gharraí Eoin: Cruthú spáis súgartha céadfach ag Scoil Cailíní agus Buachaillí Naomh Eoin – €144,249

• Contae Mhaigh Eo – Béal an Átha: Athsholáthar córais téimh in Ionad Ealaíon Bhéal an Átha – €50,000

• Contae Chill Mhantáin – Na Clocha Liatha: Oibreacha uasghrádaithe ar chlós súgartha an Chaisleáin Nua – €160,000

Ag labhairt inniu, dúirt an tAire Calleary:

“Tá an-áthas orm fógra breise a dhéanamh faoin gCiste Aitheantais Pobail a chuirfidh leis na 349 tionscadal a fógraíodh roimhe seo faoi scéim 2024. Ciallaíonn an fógra inniu gur bronnadh maoiniú ar bhreis is 1,450 tionscadal anois faoin gCiste Aitheantais Pobail i gceann beagán os cionn dhá bhliain.

“Leanann an Ciste Aitheantais Pobail de thacaíocht a thabhairt do na cathracha, na bailte agus na sráidbhailte a chuir fáilte roimh dhaoine nua ina bpobail le blianta beaga anuas. Chuir an maoiniú seo ar chumas na bpobal a bheith níos cuimsithí agus níos acmhainní trí raon áiseanna pobail agus spásanna pobail a sholáthar agus a fheabhsú.”

Ag labhairt ag an bhfógairt, dúirt an tAire Stáit le freagracht speisialta as Forbairt Pobail agus Carthanachtaí, Jerry Buttimer:

“Tá áthas orm faoin bhfógra inniu ina bhfeictear 212 tionscadal eile á dtabhairt chun críche tríd an gCiste Aitheantais Pobail. Infheistíodh €100 milliún sa chiste seo anois i gcathracha, i mbailte agus i sráidbhailte ar fud na tíre agus beidh an difríocht atá déanta ag an maoiniú seo ina fhreastal maith ar na pobail seo ar feadh na mblianta atá le teacht.

“Léiriú ar mhuintir na hÉireann agus ar an ‘meitheal’ sin atá fós mar chuid de chreatlach ár sochaí is í an chaoi ar chuir na pobail seo fáilte roimh dhaoine nua, go mairfidh sé i bhfad.”

Dúirt an tAire Calleary chomh maith:

“Ag teacht lenár gClár Rialtais agus ‘Ár dTodhchaí Tuaithe’, polasaí mo Roinne, táim tiomanta do thacaíochtaí a sholáthar dár bpobail uirbeacha agus tuaithe araon. Tacaíochtaí a chuirfidh ar a gcumas a bheith ina n-áiteanna cuimsitheacha, acmhainneacha agus inbhuanaithe le maireachtáil iontu agus le teaghlach a thógáil, le cuairt a thabhairt orthu agus le sóisialú.

“Ba mhaith liom aitheantas a thabhairt d’iarrachtaí na ngrúpaí pobail maidir le hiarratais a ullmhú agus a chur isteach faoin gCiste Aitheantais Pobail. Trí bhur gcúram agus bhur bpáisean do bhur bpobail, tá fíorathrú ag tarlú, agus tá bonneagar pobail á fheabhsú agus á fhorbairt níos mó ná riamh. Ag obair le chéile, táimid ag tógáil phobail na todhchaí.”

Minister Calleary announces over €17 million for 212 community projects

  • Continued investment, through the Community Recognition Fund, in our sports clubs, community centres, parks, recreational trails and play and sensory spaces.
  • Projects supporting arts, culture and community vehicles also receive funding.
  • Government delivers on its commitment to support local communities to be more inclusive and resilient.

During a visit to County Roscommon to open a number of rural development projects funded by his Department, Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary TD, has today (Thursday, 5 June) announced over €17 million to deliver 212 community projects nationwide through the Community Recognition Fund.

This, the third announcement of projects under the 2024 fund, will deliver real and tangible benefits to communities across the country who have welcomed new arrivals in recent years to their cities, towns and villages.

Included in the list of 212 projects announced today are enhancement works to community centres, a wide range of recreational facilities, and the purchase of buildings and lands for future shared use by communities.

The provision of community vehicles and projects supporting the arts and culture sector are also included in today’s announcement.

Minister Calleary made the announcement during a visit to county Roscommon, where he unveiled a range of rural development projects.

Among the projects being funded today include:

  • County Carlow – Carlow Town:   Provision of an accessible walking track and upgrade of playground equipment atSt. Laserian’s Special School – €160,000
  • County Clare – Bunratty: Purchase of boat and boat repairs for Bunratty Search and Rescue- €86,000
  • County Donegal – Carrick: Purchase of a site in village centre for Carrick Regeneration Group for the creation of a civic space- €130,000
  • Dublin City – Harolds Cross: Replace existing pitch lighting at Harolds Cross YFC – €100,800
  • County Galway – Bearna:  Develop attic space to create community meeting rooms for Ionad Óige Bhearna/Na Forbacha – €120,000
  • Limerick City – Garryowne Road: Creation of a sensory play space at St. John’s Girl’s & Infant Boy’s School – €144,249
  • County Mayo – Ballina: Replacement of heating system in Ballina Arts Centre- €50,000
  • County Wicklow – Greystones: Upgrade works to Newcastle playground – €160,000

Speaking today, Minister Calleary said:

“I am very happy to be making a further announcement under the Community recognition Fund which will build on the 349 projects previously announced under the 2024 scheme. The announcement today will mean that over 1,450 projects have now been awarded funding under the Community Recognition Fund in just over two years.

“The Community Recognition Fund continues to support the cities, towns and villages that welcomed new arrivals to their communities in recent years. This funding has enabled communities to be more inclusive and resilient through the provision and enhancement of a range of community facilities and community spaces.”

Speaking at the announcement, Minister of State with special responsibility for Community Development and Charities, Jerry Buttimer, said:

“I am delighted with today’s announcement which sees a further 212 projects brought to fruition through the Community Recognition Fund.  This fund has now invested €100 million in cities, towns and villages across the country and the difference this funding has made will serve these communities well for many years to come.

“The way in which these communities, welcomed new arrivals is a testament to the Irish people and that ‘meitheal’ which is still part of the fabric of our society, long may it continue.”

Minister Calleary concluded by saying:

“In line with Our Programme for Government and my Department’s policy ‘Our Rural Future’ I am committed to providing supports to our communities both urban and rural. Supports that will enable them to become inclusive, resilient and sustainable places in which to live and raise a family, to visit and to socialise.

“I would like to acknowledge the efforts of community groups in preparing and submitting applications under the Community Recognition Fund. Through your care and passion for your communities, real change is happening, and community infrastructure is being improved and developed like never before. Working together we are building the communities of the future.”
