Minister for Health approves publication of the Health Service Executive’s Capital Plan for 2025
Minister for Health Jennifer Carroll MacNeill has today approved the publication of the Health Service Executive’s (HSE’s) Capital Plan for 2025. The plan demonstrates the Government’s commitment to continued investment that supports the delivery of strategic reform, improved productivity and a move towards better care in the community.
The health capital funding for the construction and equipping of healthcare facilities in 2025 is a record €1.33 billion.
Minister Carroll MacNeill said:
“I am delighted to approve the HSE Capital Plan for healthcare building and equipment for publication. The €1.33 billion we’re investing in 2025 will deliver very real benefits to people all over the country.
“The continued significant investment in infrastructure underlines the Government’s commitment to improving quality healthcare in a sustainable way.
“By increasing capacity in our hospitals and developing the necessary infrastructure to enable greater provision of care in communities, we are getting closer to making the vision of Slaintecare a reality; delivering a quality healthcare service to everyone in Ireland.”
Investment in 2025 will enable the progression of Government priority projects, including the completion of the New Children’s Hospital, progress construction of the National Maternity Hospital, continued delivery of additional bed capacity under the Acute Hospital Inpatient Bed Capacity Expansion Plan 2024-2031, and construction of new Surgical Hubs and Elective Care Centres.
It also facilitates the development of infrastructure to support mental health service delivery, the delivery of more Primary Care Centres, HIQA Community Nursing Unit programme and community-based infrastructure to help ensure people can access appropriate care closer to home.
